In Siddha system of medicine, the symptoms of Kuruthiazhal(Rathapitham) may be correlated with Hypertension mentioned in Noikalukku Siddha parikaram. Although Siddha system is stuffed with more information on above fields there is a lack of scientific based evidence, and Siddha classical literature searches dragging its height. To attract the view of scientific world it is needed to prove our medicine with valid updation. To attain this a comprehensive researched literature review is needed. This is my first step to compile all the necessary information about plants for kuruthiazhal based on taste.
Madeshwari K, Kingsly A Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Research in Biomedical Sciences http://biosci.in/index.php/jrbms/article/view/122 Wed, 05 Jul 2023 17:59:43 +0000 Biochemical Analysis of Siddha Drug “Uppu Parpam” http://biosci.in/index.php/jrbms/article/view/123
In the Siddha system, various effective Siddha drugs are mentioned in classical Siddha texts and manuscripts written by ancient Siddhar scientists who introduced it in India. Therefore identification and scientific validation of an effective Siddha drug to prevent and control the Paarisa vaayu (stroke or hemiplegia) is very essential in this current world. The symptoms of ‘paarisa vayu’ may be correlated with the symptoms of Hemiplegia in the modern medicine. Hemiplegia means paralysis one half of the body including lower half of the face, upper and lower extremities due to opposite side pyramidal lesion. The most common cause of Hemiplegia is Stroke, which damages the corticospinal tracts in one of the hemisphere of the brain. Other causes of hemiplegia include trauma, spinal cord injury, brain tumors and brain infections. So, I have selected a “UPPU PARPAM” is a poly mineral formulation which is exclusively indicated for Paarisa Vayu (hemiplegia) which is mentioned in Siddha literature of Kannusamy Parambarai Vaithiyam Pg.No.353. It was determined that Uppu parpam contains calcium, sulphate, chloride, carbonates, and ferrous iron, which improved therapeutic action based on biochemical analysis.
Marijothi M, Kingsly A Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Research in Biomedical Sciences http://biosci.in/index.php/jrbms/article/view/123 Mon, 10 Jul 2023 16:38:03 +0000 Biochemical Analysis of Siddha Polyherbal Drug Thathu Pushti Chooranam http://biosci.in/index.php/jrbms/article/view/125
The Siddha system of medicine is a traditional medical system which relies on fundamental principles such as Pancha boothas (fire, water, air, earth and space) and 96 thathuvas. According to this system there are three vital life factors (Vatham, pitham and kabam) which were responsible for good health. The polyherbal formulation Thathu pushti chooranam is a classic Siddha medicine which was mentioned in Anuboga vythia brama rahasiam (part 6) for thathu pushti and balam. Infertility is the inability of a sexually active, non-contracepting couple to achieve pregnancy in one year. Infertility is a commonly encountered problem in approximately 15% of couples who wish to conceive. In the male reproductive system, infertility is most commonly caused by problems in the ejection of semen, absence or low levels of sperm, or abnormal shape (morphology) and movement (motility) of the sperm. Decreased number of spermatozoa (oligozoospermia), decreased motility (asthenozoospermia) and many abnormal forms on morphological examination (teratozoospermia), usually these abnormalities come together and are described as the oligo-astheno-teratozoospermia (OAT) syndrome which are all one of the causes for infertility. The objective of the study is to evaluate the compounds present in the polyherbal Siddha formulation Thathu pushti chooranam. The biochemical analysis of Thathu pushti chooranam reveals the presence of ferrous iron, amino acid and chloride. The compounds present in the chooranam will enhance the therapeutic action of the drug.
Swathidharsini R; Antony Duraichi R Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Research in Biomedical Sciences http://biosci.in/index.php/jrbms/article/view/125 Mon, 10 Jul 2023 16:56:43 +0000 Qualitative and Quantitative analysis of “Nanguneri Ennai” (Effective Treatment for Psoriasis) as mentioned in Siddha Literature http://biosci.in/index.php/jrbms/article/view/126
The Siddha system of medicine is an unique medical philosophy originated from South India.A wide variety of skin diseases have been explained in Siddha literature. It is classified into 18 types which includes whole range of skin diseases.Siddha system has a effective management in auto immune disorders especially Psoriasis(Kalanjagapadai).Several medications are very effective in treating Kalanjagapadai especially Nanguneri Ennai from (Agasthiyar paripooranam 400) mentioned in Siddha maruthuvam sirappu by Thiyagarajan .The oil accumulated in the well of Ananthasayanar temple at Nanguneri contains materials of abishegam and various other holy things which pass through an channel and gets accumulated in well.Patients suffering from skin disease gets benifitted by applying oil externally and to be washed with green gram powder. This study is aimed at validating the components of Nanguneri ennai.Qualitative and quantitative analysis of sample was done in laboratory by ICP-OES,FTIR ,GCMS And Physico Chemical Analysis methods.
