Role of Thanneervittan Kizhangu (Asparagus racemosus) in high risk pregnancies

Abstract

Siddha system of medicine, which is more popular and practiced among Tamil speaking populations. This medicine has providing a variety of medicational benefits for all age group and associated diseases including pregnancy. The special 9 months herbal diet based chart has also exit in this Siddha system of medicine. Out its herbals, asparagus racemosus is also one of the important and playing a important role in the pregnancy care. In this review, we have explained the details of beneficial effect of asparagus racemosus for the pregnancy care and high risk pregnancies. Due to fast paced life, the incidence of high risk pregnancies has markedly raised and this leads to various clinical issues such as threatened abortions, oligohydraminos, preterm labour, Pregnancy induced hypertension etc. Because of this issues, the child after birth or even after some year, it leads for immune compromise to the child and lead to recurrent infections and diseases. The choice of drug based on Asparagus racemosus helps to aid for the above conditions and this has been discussed in detail.
